Today on Monday 6th December 2021, 250STARTUPS organized 4th Demo Day for 18 tech companies and the best 5 startup companies were awarded $5000 as a fund to accelerate and expand their activities in recognition of the efforts and commitment shown in their journey.
In the event held in Kigali Convention Center to day, some of the awardees say that it has motivated them to work harder because it will help them in their work.
Adrien Biziyaremye the founder of VISION BOT LTD, which makes digital sticks for people with visual impairments, says: “By working with 250STARTUPS contributed to get final product of this stick which help visual impaired people, I also gain Company website that will support us to spread information about our Company and products. We got a lots in this organization and mostly they give us foundation of our startups which encouraged to work hard”.
And Emmanuel Tuyizere Founder and CEO of Greenalytic Ltd Company that manufacture Electronic devices which control vehicle Air pollution, says he is pleased with the award given to them as they are going to strengthen their journey.
“From when I have joined this organization, I got a lot from them which include; producing final product we have started before and now is ready to get on market. I pleased with this award of $5000 because is strengthening our journey.” Emmanuel Said.
Olivier Kalisa Operation manager at 250STARTUPS, say that this organization aims to support many number of start-up businesses in digital innovation and contribute to development of Young Entrepreneurs.
“What we aim is to create more jobs because we want those startups to hire people and create employments which will contribute on economic growth of Country. We are building local startups to be able to develop digital innovation as well as developing of Young entrepreneurs”.
The Minister of Information and communications technology and Innovation in Rwanda Paula Ingabire Say that the 250STARTUPS program contributes to innovation and technology development, urging startup Companies to continue their activities internationally.
“250STARTUPS program is the parts of innovation or incubation that we have in Rwanda is in contributing in growing and grows many young talents we have, with developing ideas and connecting them to the market and network of mentors, so this is in good part of growing ecosystem”.
250STARTUPS is a multi-partner incubation and acceleration hub that contributes to the promotion of Rwanda’s status as an innovation destination and the ICT Hub for the continent through supporting tech start-ups to be investable after a 6-month incubation program during which these companies are provided with facilities and qualified interns in finance, law and IT.
Fifty tech startups and more than a hundred interns in finance, law, were incubated by 250STARTUPS. A tracer survey was conducted with startups from the first three cohorts where 70% of the supported startups are still operating and 73% of interns are currently employed, while 12% have ventured in the entrepreneurship journey and started their own business.
